Janne Ruokoja and Tero Peltokangas work at Best-Hall welding together the PVC cladding that covers the steel frame in fabric structures. They appreciate the fact that Best-Hall allows everyone to concentrate on their own work and do their best.
The work of plastic welders Janne Ruokoja and Tero Peltokangas is guided by a joint promise to build the best possible building for the client’s business. According to the two men, people tend to look at the ceiling when entering a fabric structure.
“When you know that the durability of the buildings depends on the quality of your own work, you want to do a good job and ensure that your work is always of the highest quality.”
Looking after your colleagues
Ruokoja and Peltokangas have been working together for 20 years welding PVC cladding for buildings. A common goal and mutual trust are important reasons why they still enjoy spending their days working together.
“The great colleagues and the way we all look after each other,” Peltokangas sums up the reasons that have made him stay in the first job offered to him after his military service.
Ruokoja was told by friends that Best-Hall was a stable choice for on-demand work.
“Things have always been done well here, and you don’t have to worry about your equipment or pay. Even though the company has grown over the years, the family atmosphere has been maintained.”
Conditions for great work
The two welders joke that they get their motivation from knowing that they are covering for the whole company. The joke does have a point: the two men working on the buildings’ cover fabrics feel that Best-Hall appreciates the value of their work.
“The company genuinely cares about what’s most important – its employees. Well-being at work is supported and safety is ensured,” Peltokangas says.
Well-being is emphasised, as the daily 1,000-metre welding job requires physical fitness and good tools and equipment. The welders feel a sense of responsibility for common goals.
“Cooperation is important and everyone needs to be willing and able to work,” Ruokoja says.
The most interesting projects for Peltokangas and Ruokoja have been large international projects, such as the JFK Airport hangar or the large football arenas in the UK.
“In Finland, however, I can drive around with my kids and point at a building and tell them that daddy built that one,” Ruokoja says.
