Best-Hall invests in quality with a new shot blasting machine

Best-Hall has been painting the steel frames of its buildings for over 45 years. Powder coating was chosen as the surface treatment for the frames because it protects the frame from environmental conditions, and at the same time the smooth surface of the frame protects the fabric from wear and tear. Powder coating is a fast, highly durable and environmentally friendly coating method, which gives the building frames a hard surface that is resistant to mechanical and chemical wear. In 2021, Best-Hall launched a major investment to replace its shot blasting machine that had already reached young adulthood. Shot blasting is a type of pre-treatment of steel structures prior to painting and an important part of the process: it ensures top-quality surface treatment and corrosion protection for the steel frame. The blasting machine shoots steel shot onto the steel structures to be painted, removing impurities and rust. After shot blasting, the steel parts are sent directly to the painting line where the elements are given a protective coating, after which they can be packed up and loaded onto trucks for transport to the site.

Best-Hall’s Production Manager Mika Pottala says that the investment is one of the largest in the company’s history and therefore very significant. “With this replacement investment and the improvement of the surface treatment process, Best-Hall wants to ensure product quality well into the future,” Pottala says.

For the client, this means a higher-quality product, better security of supply and more competitive pricing. The new shot blasting machine is an important element in a more streamlined process.
