Aeroplane and helicopter hangars for storing aircraft

Best-Hall’s aircraft and helicopter hangar offers functional, safe surroundings for storing and maintaining valuable aircraft. Thanks to the steel frame structure developed by Best-Hall, we can design a hall solution that is wide and spacious enough to accommodate aircrafts and helicopters.

The hangar’s internal cover protects the aircraft from weather conditions and functions as thermal insulation. Special doors can be selected from the range of doors designed specifically for aircraft hangars.

Managed relocations
Thanks to its ability to be relocated, Best-Hall’s aircraft and helicopter hangar adds superb flexibility to protection and hangar solutions for airport operations. The hangar can be relocated relatively easy and only a small proportion of the materials need to be replaced. Our aircraft hangars have been relocated several times at Helsinki Airport, which has aimed to improve its functionality as traffic volumes have grown. Depending on the distance, we can move buildings as a whole or in disassembled form.

For aircraft large and small
The hangar can be adapted to suit usage requirements, with various door solutions making it suitable for small and large aircraft. For example, the automatic rolling doors in our double-door system take into account the space required by tail fins. If necessary, we can tailor the door sizes to suit specific aircraft. Our range of doors for personnel and our selections of sliding and rolling doors offer plenty of options for smaller maintenance machinery and personnel access.

The aircraft hangar can be divided into different areas as required depending on the size of the aircraft and the maintenance needs. The hangar is also suitable for storing fuel and lubricants. If necessary, the hangar can be equipped with side shelters to provide additional protection to the exterior.

Kokkola-Pietarsaari Airport

Delivered in 2006, the hangar’s original dimensions were 48 x 32 / 9 m and it was equipped with an internal cover, thermal insulation and a fabric rolling door. In 2011, when the customer needed more space, Best-Hall extended the hangar by 18 metres.

Widerøe’s Flyveselskap ASA, Norway

In 2005, Best-Hall supplied Widerøe’s Flyveselskap ASA, an airline based in Norway, with an aircraft premises solution. The aircraft hangar was delivered to Tromsø containing technical solutions that took into account the Nordic weather conditions, which create special requirements for storing aircraft. In 2011, a hangar solution with an equivalent standard of equipment was supplied for the company’s operations in Kirkenes in Northern Norway.

The open aircraft hangar enables a diverse range of storage and maintenance activities for aircrafts used by the Norwegian subsidiary of SAS. “The aircraft hangar is high in functionality and quality in terms of its technical solutions. It enables storage and maintenance procedures to take place with protection from the weather conditions so we can keep our aircraft in functioning condition,” says Kjell Pettersen, Widerøe’s Flyveselskap ASA’s Manager of Buildings and Real Estate.

JFK Airport, USA

In 2005, Best-Hall built a hangar at New York’s JFK airport for use when de-icing aircrafts. The hangar was ordered as a means to significantly reduce the volume of chemicals used for de-icing. The customer installed infra-red heaters in the ceiling of the hangar to melt ice from aircrafts without requiring chemicals. Even the largest jumbo jets can be brought through the hangar, which is an amazing 80 metres in length and width, with a height of 9 metres at its lowest point.
