Frequently asked questions

Do we need a building permit for Best-Hall®?

Yes. Best-Hall® is a hall designed for the local snow and wind load.

Could you send me a price list?

The prices of our halls are defined case-specifically and, therefore, no general price list is available.

How expensive are the halls?

The price per square metre is defined according to the usage, size, snow load, location, and equipment necessary. There are no fixed prices, as we always calculate the prices hall-specifically.

Are your halls manufactured in China?

No. All of our halls are manufactured in Finland at our factory in Kälviä, Ostrobothnia. We employ a total of approximately 120 persons.

I have heard that Building Control will in the future require third party monitoring for hall manufacturers. What does this mean?

The regular inspections of the factories and manufacturing sites by a recognised organisation aim at ensuring that the products and the manufacturing process correspond to the quality control requirements. Best-Hall is monitored by Inspecta Sertifiointi Oy and can verify, therefore, that the structures meet all the demands by the authorities. Difficult and expensive building site-specific testing is, therefore, usually not required. Since 1993, we have been using the ISO 9001-2000 quality system, which is monitored by DNV.

Can your halls be heated?

Yes. Best-Hall can install an inner liner for your hall to function as light heat insulation. If necessary, glass wool can be installed between the materials.

How long is the service life of the fabric?

Approximately 25 to 30 years. We have built halls more than 30 years ago that are still using the original fabric roofing.

Can a crane be integrated in the hall structure?

Various cranes or conveyors can be integrated in all of our halls.

How long can a doorway be on the long side of the hall without supporting columns?

The most common length is between 9 and 12 metres, but we have built doorways up to 15 metres.

How high can the door be on the long side of the hall?

The rule of thumb is that the door is 50 cm lower than the internal wall.

Can upward acting doors be installed in the hall?

Yes, both traditional upward acting doors and doors are made out of fabric.

Will condensate gather in the hall?

Humidity may condense on the ceiling of the hall at certain temperatures, but this can be significantly reduced by using roof exhaust fans. If the product requires a certain humidity percentage for the storage space, dehumidification equipment can be installed in the hall.

Can your halls be erected directly on asphalt?

Yes. The Best-Hall® products can be erected on asphalt, provided that the size, snow load, and any other applicable additional loads do not require special arrangements.

What is required of the asphalt base?

We will deliver drawings on the requirements for the various areas of the foundation of the hall together with the contract documents.

What is the PVC roofing?

The PVC roofing used in the Best-Hall® solutions is polyester fabric that is PVC coated and processed with acrylic varnish, UV protection, and anti-mould agent.

How heavy is the PVC fabric you use?

We use several thicknesses of fabric, meaning that their weight varies. The thickness and weight of the covering are defined according to the size and load of the hall.

Does the roofing need to be tightened at a later time?

No. We will tighten the covering to its final form in the installation phase.

Why is the frame of the hall painted, not zinc coated?

We usually paint the frame so that the frame will be smoother and not damage the fabric later. According to your needs and wishes, the frame can also be zinc coated.

What are the standard sizes of your halls?

Every Best-Hall® solution is designed according to the individual needs of the customer.

What is the smallest hall available?

Usually 20x10 m, but other sizes are available if necessary.

How big is the largest hall available?

Usually the maximum width is 100 metres. There is no maximum limit for the length. We have delivered halls with 15-metre walls.

Are halls with straight walls available, and does this affect the price? In our case, we need to utilise the entire width of the hall.

If necessary, we can also deliver halls with straight column walls. However, this may not always be useful, because some materials cannot be located directly next to a wall. The straight walls increase the price only slightly.

How soon can you deliver?

The delivery time varies according to the order. Our usual speed of delivery is 8 to 12 weeks.

What kinds of preparations do we need to perform before the installers arrive on-site?

The corners of the hall must be marked, and on-site electricity must be installed.

The site must be cleaned as required by the space needed for installation, and snow must be cleared from the site. Underground cables and piping must also be clearly marked.

Can I repair small, approximately 10 cm long, incisions by gluing? What is the recommended glue?

Small incisions can be repaired using PVC glue, available from Best-Hall.

Do you provide fabric for patching?

Yes, you can buy fabric for patching by calling us.

A trailer hit the side of the wall while backing up. What is the best way to start the repairs?

Photograph the damage and the entire hall, and deliver the photos to us. We will then estimate the necessary repair operations and their cost.

We changed our company logo. How can we replace the logo on the wall of the hall?

Best-Hall can make a new logo on top of the old one.

How much snow can the roof of the hall support?

We customise all of our Best-Hall® solutions according to the local wind and snow load. Therefore, the structures are sure to support the local snow load, which in Helsinki, for example, is 200 kg/m2. The maximum thickness of the snow on the roof depends on the consistency of the snow.

How can I remove snow from the roof?

If necessary, snow can be removed similarly to any other structures. Remember safety: do not go on the roof without a safety harness!
